Description
Arnold Böcklin is a font that was designed by the Otto Weisert foundry in Stuttgart in 1904. The font is named after the Swiss symbolist painter Arnold Böcklin, who died in 1901.
The Arnold Bocklin is the most famous Art Nouveau font, it is characterized by floral forms of Art Nouveau. The font was created for use in large font sizes. Here the decorative appearance was more important than readability.
The writing had a great significance for the book design of Art Nouveau. Experienced a renaissance in the writing of the 1960s and 1970s, when Art Nouveau style became fashionable again. They also influenced the illustrations by British artist Roger Dean, as well as more recently the work of the Stuckists Paul Harvey (born 1960). As a variant of Arnold Böcklin is included in the software package CorelDRAW Graphics Suite under the name “Arabia” was and is the font used widely in connection with the Orient and the Middle East, although it actually has nothing in common with the calligraphy of Arabic fonts.
Owner of the trademark “Arnold Böcklin” for this font is Linotype type foundry, but many manufacturers have their own font versions. Adobe’s OpenType version of the font supports ISO Adobe 2, Adobe CE and Latin Extended character sets.
But I told myself that you can still beat, and in my Böcklöins Universe I created really all Latin extensions, including phonetics, Africa alphabet, Vietnamese and UNZ1 ligatures, as well as probably for the first time a truly complete Cyrillic character set, including all extensions. Also a complete Greek character set with all extensions!
