Designed to integrate with the character of the Mozilla FirefoxOS, the Fira typefaces also aim to cover the legibility needs for a large range of handsets varying in screen quality and rendering. The Fira font family comes in 3 widths, all accompanied by italic styles. The package also includes a Mono Spaced variant. This project is led by Carrois, a type foundry based in Berlin. Note on thin weight fractional coordinates
All weights below “Thin” use fractional coordinates which is an optical decision. Rendering engines might not be able to deal with that correctly. As for that, these weights should be seen as an experiment by now. If you notice any problems in smaller sizes please consider to use weights from Thin.

This will be the last version of Fira Sans. Development will continue with FiraGO. See FiraGO for plenty of new scripts (Arabic, Hebrew, Devanagari, Thai, Georgian) and manual TT hinting.

Berlin-based typefoundry run by Ralph du Carrois and Anja Meiners. Their friends are Jenny du Carrois, Natalie Rauch, Mark Froemberg, and they cooperate with Erik Spiekermann, FontShop, Monotype, (URW)++, Adam Twardoch, Alphabet Type, Okan Tustas, The Fontpad, TN Typography, Mota Italic, Akaki Razmadze, Hasan Abu Afash, Fontef, Lettersoup, and Thomas Maier.
Carrois Type Design
Carrois Type Design (Berlin, Germany) started up officially ca. 2010, although Ralph du Carrois has been designing typefaces since ca. 2002. This dynamic company in Germany has three art directors, Jenny du Carrois, Anja Meiners and Botjo Nikoltchev. All three also design typefaces, as well as Adam Twardoch, Andreas Eigendorf and Ralph du Carrois himself. The company specializes in custom type.
