Grafema is a system of calligraphic typefaces which started off as handwritten works using a flat brush and Indian ink on paper. The main distinctive features in the two main cuts are the differing angles of the instrument and the natural texture formed by the brush strokes. The demo versions contain solely Cyrillic in its Bulgarian form, basic numerals and punctation. They are free for personal and commercial use. Created as part of project Grafema – part of the official programme of Plovdiv European capital of culture 2019.

Calligrapher and graphic designer in Sofia, Bulgaria. She completed her BA in Graphic design and MA in Calligraphy at the National Academy of Art in Sofia. After her graduation she started working as a type designer at Fontfabric Type Foundry and embarked on a PhD, still at National Academy of Art.From 2018 she started working with Todor Georgiev and founded together Letter Collective. The studio offers graphic design services related to type design, lettering, calligraphy, typography, visual communication and brand identity.
Letterer and graphic artist from Sofia, Bulgaria. Started his career as a designer for Saatchi & Saatchi in 2013. BA in Poster design and Applied graphics from NBU, specialized in Krakow’s Poster studio with prof. Piotr Kunce. Completed a master’s degree in Type design from NAA in 2015. Until 2018 worked as a freelance graphic designer as well as a lecturer in the fields of type, graphic and poster design in New Bulgarian University where he is currently a PhD candidate. Co-founded Letter Collective together with Jacklina Jekova in 2018 and is dedicated to the fields of typography, brand identity and custom fabrication of signage, artworks and other items, functional or not.
Letter Collective is a creative duo offering services in the field of type design, calligraphy and lettering as well as visual communication, brand identity and custom fabrication. The founders Todor Georgiev and Jacklina Jekova started their cooperation in early 2018 and are currently based in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2019 they successfully complete their project Grafema resulting in an exhibition, workshop and family of fonts, some of which freely open for use.
On the Letter Collective site you will find a series of classes suitable for everyone interested in the art of beautiful handwriting and calligraphy.
